“We got Whiskey, a LARGE standard poodle, when he was a young puppy. As a “COVID puppy,” we didn’t have the opportunity to provide him with the socialization and experiences that puppies should experience. When we started puppy training, Whiskey started scaring us by demonstrating aggression with our daughters. The dog trainer at the highly recommended, locally owned establishment told us they could no longer help us and handed us a business card. One phone call later started the path that changed all of our lives, and undoubtedly saved Whiskey’s!
From the first time I talked with Amanda, I knew no matter how much it would cost, she was the person that was the difference between Whiskey’s future…or lack thereof (gulp). If anyone, she was the one who could help us. She has the ability to listen to what is being said and interpret what is being conveyed. She utilized her wealth of knowledge and skills to deliver the firm reality that our family needed to hear. This was the assistance that allowed us to succeed with keeping our dog, but most importantly, keeping our whole family living together safely.
Amanda goes beyond her call of duty of just training. It seems simple, but Amanda saved Whiskey. She was available when we needed her the most, and in every session gave us the tools to continue training Whiskey when she wasn’t around. We went from not being able to have anyone over to understanding the steps needed to be social in our house again. She taught us not to go outside when there were people and/or dogs, and now we understand how to do this without escalation.
We had to put Whiskey as priority and commit as a family that we would do it, or the worst could happen. She taught us to learn how to read the signs and prevent instead of always having to react. She taught our kids how to be safe but still have fun with him. We have come so far since our first session, and we know we still have work to do. This time there is no question whether we can reach our goals - we know we can! And if we need help again, we still have the ability to connect with her. Let me state again: Amanda Rietheimer changed our lives and saved Whiskey’s! We will never be able to truly thank her for what she has done for us.”
